Colorado’s Highway of Legends is an amazing route for those exploring southern Colorado. Traverse a mountainous route rich in majestic views of the Rocky mountains and all it has to offer including rich wildlife and history. If time is on your side and you’re driving south on I-25 to New Mexico, skip the interstate stretch from Walsenburg to Trinidad and take this road. This VERY curvy exciting road is extremely beautiful especially in the summer and fall, however be cautious of sand and rocks on the road from prior rain fall and snow melt. This road is a local favorite and has seen motorcycles from all over the US. Which has great wait staff, food, and drinks. Remember that there is no fuel stops between Trinidad and Walsenburg which is aprox 71 miles.
