1 valley 3 mountains 489 curves.

I like to start in Bristol. You can visit downtown state street where you can enjoy many food options breweries and tge birthplace of country music museum.  You can always do the ride and circle back into Bristol to stay at great downtown hotels,  hard Rock casino will be open very soon.

Be sure stop at the store at the cross roads in shady Valley.  From there you can travel down on rt 131  to Damascus Virginia.  Make a stop at backbone Rock. Continue into Damascus stop at Damascus brewery try a dam beer! Take rt 58 threw Damascus turn onto rt 91 a nice sweeping curvy rd trew laurel bloomery and into mountain city. That will connect you back on 421 where you turn left go up the mountain on an very curvy ride with switchback sweepers then you will decend back into shady Valley.  Mack a stop at store for tee shirts pins stickers. On weekends the have bands and cook outside. They always have food inside as well. I suggest stopping for fuel in Bristol and then if you need to stop again stop in Damascus or mountain city. The store has fuel but sometimes runs out in summer months. Head back down 421 into Bristol to enjoy downtown night life.

Great food, friendly people

5.0/ 5

Had a really good fried bologna sandwich at the Shady Valley Country Store. We rode the route from Damascus, VA to Shady Valley, to Mountain City, TN and then back to Damascus. Route 133 from Dasmascus to Shady Valley was a nice stretch of road through a valley. You might even see a black bear or two. Stop at Backbone Rock and make the very steep climb to the top if you have the energy. There is a good sized parking lot on the southwest side of Backbone Rock.
